What an honor to have
THE PIANO GUYS feature Marshall's arrangement (co-written with his close friend, Steven Sharp Nelson) of "O Come, O Come, Emmanuel" in their recent YouTube video (which has already passed 34 million views)!
And YES! the sheet music for "O Come, O Come, Emmanuel" is available for the following instruments:
Marshall McDonald and Steven Sharp Nelson met at the University of Utah where they both studied music. They became fast friends and began immediately to collaborate on a variety of music projects. Together they have written film scores, chamber music, sonatas, and choir music. Many have said that these two resemble Rogers and Hammerstein, Lerner and Lowe, and Gilbert and Sullivan except for the fact that they actually get along! Nelson and McDonald say they enjoy composing together even more so than apart.
They have produced the following most recent projects together:
-
Sacred Hymns, Vol. 1 – a bestselling series of hymn arrangement sheet music books for violin, cello and viola.
-
The Spanish Trail Suite – commissioned by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) through the Orchestra of Southern Utah, this 35-minute symphony musically depicts the triumphs and hardships experienced by those who traveled the Old Spanish Trail. It was performed in 2009 in China by the Chinese Philharmonic Orchestra.
-
AFRICA – a 25-minute piece written for full symphony orchestra, 8 percussion players, and full choir (also commissioned by the NEA) celebrating the great continent, Africa.
-
More Holiness Give Me – their first album together, featuring only their native instruments, the cello and the piano.
-
American Journey – this album features the China Philharmonic Orchestra performing Spanish Trail Suite; Come, Come, Ye Saints; Homeward Bound; If You Could Hie to Kolob and the original composition "Tender Mercies" based on the melody from the symphony, AFRICA.
